Fitting aftermarket blind spot monitor

by | May 13, 2024

What are the benefits of fitting a blind spot monitor in my car?

Increased Safety
Blind spot monitors help drivers detect vehicles or objects in their blind spots, which are areas not visible in the wing mirrors or rearview mirror.  By alerting drivers to the presence of vehicles in adjacent lanes, blind spot monitors can help prevent accidents caused by lane changes or merging manoeuvres.

Reduced Accidents
With the assistance of blind spot monitors, drivers can make more informed decisions when changing lanes or making turns, reducing the risk of collisions with vehicles in their blind spots.

Convenience
Blind spot monitors add convenience by serving as an extra set of eyes, especially in situations where checking blind spots manually may be difficult or impractical, such as during inclement weather or while towing a trailer.

Peace of Mind
For many drivers, knowing that their vehicle is equipped with technology designed to help them avoid accidents can provide peace of mind and confidence behind the wheel.

How does our aftermarket blind spot detection system (lane change sssist) work?

BSD (Blind Spot Detection) – Up to 8 metres

If a vehicle is detected in the blind spot when not indicating, the corresponding warning light installed on the bottom of the left and right windscreen pillar trim will solidly illuminate amber and will stay illuminated until the vehicle leaves the blind spot.

If a vehicle is detected in the blind spot when indicating, the corresponding warning light installed on the bottom of the left and right windscreen pillar trim will illuminate red and an audible alert will sound until the vehicle leaves the blind spot.

CVW (Closing Vehicle Warning) – Up to 30 metres

When a fast approaching (closing) vehicle is detected when not indicating, the corresponding warning light installed on the bottom of the left and right windscreen pillar trim will flash amber.

When a fast approaching (closing) vehicle is detected when indicating, the corresponding warning light installed on the bottom of the left and right windscreen pillar trim will flash red and an audible alert will sound.

Can you add a blind spot monitor to any car?

Our aftermarket blind spot detection system uses a single sensor with two installation methods available (number plate bracket or behind bumper adhesive bracket), so it is suitable for fitment to most cars and commercial vehicles.

How long does it take to fit a blind spot monitor?

It depends on the car but most installs are completed within 2.5 to 4 hours.  All wiring is hidden, the only part of the installation you will see are the two discreet LED indicator lights fitted at the bottom of the A pillar on the left and right of the windscreen.
