What Is TerraClean and How does it work?
TerraClean is an advanced engine decarbonisation and fuel system cleaning process that removes carbon deposits, gums, tars and varnishes from key engine components. Unlike traditional fuel additives that are simply poured into the fuel tank, TerraClean uses a specialised cleaning machine connected directly to your vehicle’s fuel system. This allows the engine to run on a highly refined cleaning fuel specifically designed to remove contaminants throughout the fuel and combustion system.
The process cleans areas that standard fuel additives often cannot reach, helping to restore engine efficiency and improve overall vehicle performance.
We link your vehicle to one of our TerraClean machines (either Petrol or Diesel). The machine will take over as the fuel supply for the vehicle and uses a highly refined, non-harmful fuel coupled with the patented technology of the equipment to remove the build-up of carbon from your vehicle. How Does TerraClean Work?
The TerraClean process works in two stages:
Stage 1 – Fuel System Cleaning
The first stage focuses on cleaning the fuel delivery system, helping to remove deposits that can affect injector performance and fuel atomisation. This helps restore:
- Fuel injector efficiency
- Fuel pressure performance
- Accurate fuel delivery
- Improved combustion
- Smoother engine operation
By cleaning the fuel system, your engine can burn fuel more effectively, reducing unburnt fuel and improving overall efficiency.
Stage 2 – Carbon Removal
The second stage targets carbon deposits that have accumulated inside the engine and exhaust system. The specialised TerraClean fuel helps remove carbon contamination from:

DPF or EGR issues?
A standard TerraClean will clean through both the vehicles EGR and DPF if there is airflow through these units. BUT, a standard TerraClean service is not designed to unblock these components. We have a specific DPF and EGR cleaning tool which will clean and unblock DPF and EGR. This is designed to remove carbon deposits from the EGR and intake systems, exhaust systems and turbo chargers. It also improves DPF operation and efficeincy therefore restoring performance and fuel economy.
Injector issues?
We also have a pressurised induction tool to clean direct injection engines which are particularly susceptible to carbon build ups on the backs of the intake valves and can be costly to replace.
