  • Reduce exhaust gas emissions

Our cruise control installation service is trusted across the UK, delivering high-quality solutions for both private and commercial vehicles. The system we use is reliable, TÜV-approved, and includes numerous safety features to ensure safe and consistent performance under all driving conditions.

How do I control the cruise control?

The system we install offers both cruise control and speed limiter functionality, giving you the best of both worlds. The system is simple to operate:

A number of different controls are available for our cruise control installation service. The most popular option is the stalk control, which is typically installed on the left-hand side of the steering column, just below the indicator stalk. This setup provides all the standard cruise control features, including set, resume, speed increase/decrease, along with two convenient presets. For those looking to manage vehicle speed for safety or compliance, we also offer professional speed limiter installation tailored to your specific needs.

We also offer a gear stick control and dashboard pad controller if the stalk is unsuitable for the application.

How do I check if my vehicle can have cruise control fitted?

Our cruise control installation service requires your vehicle to have a drive-by-wire (electronic throttle) system, which most post-2000 models include. If you’re unsure, just contact us with your vehicle details and we’ll confirm compatibility. As a trusted choice for cruise control installation near me, we ensure expert fitting and reliable performance. We also provide professional speed limiter installation for both safety and regulatory compliance.

Until recently, we were able to install cruise control to older vehicles and even classic cars with cable-driven throttle systems. Unfortunately, the manufacturer has now ceased production of the parts to allow us to install to such vehicles.

How long does installation take?

The cruise control installation in UK will take roughly 2-3 hours on most vehicles, although some older models may take slightly longer. Please contact us with your vehicle details for a price quote and further information.

Genuine Cruise Control installation

Motor Mods also offer genuine cruise control retrofits for VAG group vehicles including Audi, VW, Skoda & Seat.

All genuine parts are used in the installation and your warranty will not be affected. Our prices include parts, labour and coding.

We are VAG-approved installers and use ODIS-online to code our retrofits, ensuring that each cruise control installation is fully integrated into the vehicle’s system. This means the accessory is officially added to the vehicle specification, and future software updates won’t affect the coding. For reliable cruise control installation in UK, Motor Mods offers expert service backed by decades of experience.

Please contact us with your vehicle registration for prices and further details of cruise control installation.

Speed Limiters

Speed limiters work a similar way to a cruise control, but rather than you controlling the speed via the stalk control, the speed is pre-set and cannot be altered by the driver – thus setting the maximum speed of the vehicle.

Our speed limiters can be set to whatever speed you wish and this speed can also be altered by us in the future, if required. As the unit is separate from the vehicles ECU, the speed limiter can be removed and re-fitted to another vehicle in the future, making it a one-off purchase – a much more efficient way of adding speed limiters to company / fleet vehicles.

A speed limiter installation is a fantastic money-saving solution, especially for company vehicles. It helps reduce fuel consumption, lowers wear and tear on the vehicle, and protects your employees’ licences by preventing accidental speeding—ultimately helping to keep insurance premiums down.

Please contact us for further information. Discounts are available for fleet vehicles.

FAQs

Can you retrofit cruise control as it would come from the factory?

We can retrofit the genuine cruise control to most Volkswagen, Audi, Skoda, Seat, Cupra and some Ford vehicles.  You would need to send us your registration and VIN and we can check compatibility.

For all other vehicles we offer our aftermarket cruise control system.

Does the cruise control have a speed limiter too?

Our aftermarket cruise control system also has a built in speed limiter so you can have the benefit of both options.

What is the lowest speed the cruise & limiter can work at?

30mph is the lowest speed that can be set on either the speed limiter or cruise control.

Are they safe?

Yes! Our unique CAN BUS cruise system is designed for modern vehicles without a conventional throttle cable.  This is an E-Marked and TUV approved product with an electrical installation with no mechanical connectionsrequired.  For safety, the cruise system can be disengaged by switching off thecontrol, pressing the vehicle brake pedalor clutch.

Can you convert my factory cruise control to be adaptive?

Unfortunately not.

Where will the controls be fitted?

In most vehicles, we will install a stalk controller on the left hand side of the steering column, below the indicator stalk.  See our cruise control gallery page for example install photos.  We also have the option of a dash pad for vehicles with limited space on the steering column.

Will it affect my warranty?

There is no reason fitting cruise control should affect your warranty, but it is worth checking with your manufacturer if you are concerned.  Our parts and labour are guaranteed so in the unlikely event that an issue should arise with the cruise control, you can rest assured.

How long is the guarantee?

We offer a 12 month parts and labour guarantee on our cruise control and speed limiter systems.

How long does it take to fit?

This depends on the vehicle but generally 2 – 3 hours.

Can I fit myself?

We do not recommend this as a DIY installation.

Do I need to inform the insurance company?

Anything you change on your car is classed as a modification and you should make your insurance company aware.
